Stupida - Estúpida

Stupida, originally recorded in Italian by Alessandra Amorosso (from Lecce, Italy), then remade Salsa-style in Spanish by the Puerto Rican La India (she also recorded a slower, ballad version of the same song).

The lyrics were changed around a bit in the Spanish version, but, overall, the message of the song is the same as the original Italian. Below is the the chorus part for both languages.

We can take the opportunity here to compare and contrast the way the word for "always" is pronounced in Italian and Spanish. In Italian, a very lax [ɛ] is perceived on the first syllable, which contrasts with the vowel quality in the second syllable: ['sɛmpɾe]. In Spanish, in place of [ɛ], we find the diphthong [je]: ['sjempɾe].
